Gigabyte Z68 APD3 Mobo (1155) with an intel Core I5 2500k RAM compatibility

Hi All,

My PC is old af, I know but until recently it's done everything I need it to do, however I've downloaded Football Manager 2022 today and it's running slow. Graphics capability is 1* which I'm a little confused at. I do have a Radeon HD 7950 which is outdated, yes, but....it's football manager, after all.

Anyway, it seems to be my RAM slowing the PC down according to my AMD Radeon software, I'm not sure on my brand currently, but it's 2x4Gb RAM at 1333MHz. My friend has recently split his old gaming PC up and has a set of Corsair RAM going spare, 2x8Gb 1333MHz (Seems almost identical to this although 2x 8Gb rather than just a single)

Just looking to learn about if it would be compatible and if not why not. I know soon I'll need to start all over again as it's generally outdated but for now if I can sort the RAM and it run happily for a few months longer, why not?!

2x 8gb 1333mhz should work as the motherboard can take up to 32gb which is 8gb per stick.

Theoretically you coukd just add the 2x 8gb with the 2x4gb you already have but I would try 2x8gb first.

The memory you linked looks like laptop memory s.o dimm which won't work.

Thanks for the reply Seems I may have made a mistake on the RAM I linked; his won't be laptop RAM. Is there many issues with RAM compatibility much like processors having certain types of sockets etc, or generally a case of most should simply be compatible?

Most ram work as long as it's the same type regardless of manufacturer, for your motherboard its ddr3 .

Nothing is gauranteed to work unless its on the motherboard qvl list for memory but I wouldnt worry to much. If your pc is overclocked then things mite be more difficult so run it at stock.

Is the memory in the correct slrts to run in dual channel ?

It also looks like your cpu isn't boosting to 3.7ghz.

Haven't moved the RAM in 7 or 8 years I will have a sanity check though
