I'm slightly confused with what slots to put the memory in for dual channel even the manual doesn't make it clear to me.

In the old days you used to put one in the 1st slot and miss one out and one in the 3rd slot. Basically the same coloured slot.

The manual i think is referring to two next to each other?
Im saying this because CPU-Z is showing 1T 800mhz when it should be 2T 1600mhz.

beejjacobs has pointed you in the right direction for dual channel.

The two things above are nothing to do with dual channel operation.

You have to double the speed shown by CPU-Z as the RAM is Double Data Rate (DDR), so 800MHz x 2 = 1600MHz.

Command Rate is a memory timing option set by the SPD/XMP RAM profiles or set manually in the BIOS.

You can try 1T but a lot of 1600MHz DDR3 is designed for 2T.

1T will give a tiny, tiny bit better performance, 2T will give you more stability.
