I just notice just now, if you are a virgin media 100 meg - don't buy this board because there is a biggest LAN network problem with this board, I had test it via speedtest.net and getting only 47Meg (half of it gone !!!!) with my 100 Meg, I could guess down to virgin media network problem but until I test it with my other board, EX58 UD5 and it reading ok 91Meg and I try installed fresh windows 7 again on Z68X UD4 B3 and test virgin media and still same at 47 Meg.

I am furious about it, I just notice it now. Quite shocking. The LAN on this board is terrible. I had inform Gigabyte about this board LAN problem, they will look into this. But they cannot test it via 1Gb network on their side. Pretty useless gigabyte.

I was thinking of return this board to the shop to get fully refunded and swap with
ASUS P8P67 Pro B3 instead !!!!!!!!!

I guess you have tried different (older/newer) versions of the Realtek drivers?

I doubt it will make a difference and with you already tested against the EX58 to compare already but have you tried using a different server location with speedtest?

I'm only on a 30GB connection so would not make any difference to me I guess.

I did try both old and new version of realtek drivers, still the same, no difference. As for speedtest, I use London server on both X58 board (read out 96Meg now) and Z68 board (read out 47 Meg) on the virgin media 100 Meg.

On the superhub, the blue light on the top confirmed of Ex58 as 1Gb network cable to the Lan port. But the blue light go off when using Z68X board (not enabled 1Gb network cable to the Lan port) :(

I'm guessing you got it connected via Ethernet Cable. Have you tried any of the other sockets RJ-45 port sockets on the Superhub?

Maybe the motherboard is faulty, would be cool if their was other users who had 100GB who could also test same/similar setups.

It is it's pretty poo. I had to use a wireless card to get over the lag. Prolly end up getting an intel nic instead. Why mobo makers don;t use these anyway is anybodies guess.

I had try all Rj-45 port sockets on the superhub with ethernet cable. Pretty very disappointed, Never expected this to be happen to me :(

It hard to guess if the manufacturing RMA refused any fault on Lan because they don't have 100 Meg at their end. I think Gigabyte had their own network as faster than Virgin Media UK. (?)

Maybe ask on here? http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/ see if anyone on there can also duplicate the problem.

Are you using any sort of anti virus/firewall while using speed test. As when I had my 50 mbit fitted I was told by the engineer not to run it while running tests on there. And after running some tests with it enabled and disabled, there was a big difference between both tests.

With my anti virus and firewall on I was getting less then half of my connections speed.

You've probably checked it already but if not try looking at the actual Speed & Duplex settings in the controller properties.

Make sure the speed & duplex is set to Auto Negotiation if that doesn't work set it to 100Mbps Half Duplex and reboot your hub and pc.

Ps...there is no need for gigabyte to test it on a 1gb connection they only need to test it on a 100mb connection.

Many thanks Lord Alibaski (it was speed & duplex not set on auto as it was set at 10Mbps Half Duplex as I had now changed it to Auto) and got this correct speed now:

You're a star! Many thanks!

Jesus

Holy damn thats some fast internet

I'm so jealous

hahaha, but 100 Meg is expensive thought at £45 a month standalone as I kept my BT line with unlimited anytime calls including free 0845/0870 inclusive calls and I get deal for the whole year of just £10 a month line rental because of upfront one off payment of £120 to save £46.80 a year off! I only need to pay £4 a month for the unlimited calls. So, both Virgin 100 Meg, plus phone is £49 a month work out cheaper than virgin media broadband plus phone.
