Gigabyte z77 D3H bios hangs?

Just put my new build together and everything runs nicely, so I went to put a little overclock on it and find that the BIOS just loads a blue screen with the gigabyte UEFI bios header and is otherwise unresponsive.

Has anyone encountered this and found a fix?

I've swapped the backup and main BIOS to see if it was just corrupt, but I get the same result.
 
Ignore! Turns out the BIOS doesn't like game controllers. Once I unplugged my joystick and xbox pad it was all good :)
 
I found the GB bios update fantastic.

DL the latest bios for the mobo, put it on a USB stick, boot to bios and tell it to update from the USB stick. Done.

Took next to no time, auto did a few reboots then was done.
 
it can be not enough cpu voltage aswell that causes the bios screen to freeze or not load

just clear cmos and start over

Did you do anything special? The only option it presents me when i try and update from within the BIOS is to try and find the new image on my HDD.
 
Formatted the USB stick as FAT32, popped the Bios files onto it.
connected to the USB and rebooted.
Accessed Bios and went to the flash utility, when I get the select device the USB stick showed up and just selected that and it gave me a list fo the bios files I had on there.
 
as wazza says,its voltage issues,i got it quite a lot when i first got my 3570k as i moved from Amd and wasnt fully familiar with settings etc,as i got my voltages gradually sorted out(an lots of cmos resets)it doesnt seam to do it anymore,also i made sure i got the latest bios,it shoulnt happen but does seem to be a gigabyte problem with the latest bios that gigabyte are doing,see the gigabyte forums

This was at stock! It was definitely my game controllers that were causing the problem. I bit the bullet and updated (dual bios is a bit of a comfort), so I'll have a peek and see if they work with it now.

E: Nope, game controllers still causing issues. Works fine when they're out and I've already set up my overclock so it's no biggie.

what controllers are you using? idk if you have a mix of usb2/3 ports on that board but try in one or the other,could be usb3 port issue,its also worth emailing gigabyte and telling them the problem your having,state mb and controller model,they cant fix it if they dont know about the problem

I only have 2 usb2 ports, so you could be right. I'll put my Xbox pad/flight stick in the remaining port to see if that resolves the issue. I don't do much flight sim so could leave it unplugged and put the Xbox pad in the usb2 port if that fixes it

Ah ok, yeah i think that's the issue. My USB stick is NTFS as i used it as the Windows 8 boot drive. I'll reformat it as FAT32 and try again.
