Good day all.

I am hoping someone here can help me, before my computer go's flying out of the window.

I built my computer end of last year, and ever since then I get random total lock-ups, this has even happened while in the bios.

I have never had a BSOD, just that whole system just locks-up (freezes).
As said above I have even had my system this lockup while in the bios, so I don't be leave it to be any OS related problem.

I have done a full memory scan with Memtest86+ no errors found.
and even run IntelBurn test for 48hours, temps where always <70c.

The lockups can happen at any time without warning, I can go a month without a single lockup, or loads of lockups a day.

Here is my current system setup.

Processor: Intel Ivy Bridge i7-3770K, Rev E1/L1.
CPU Cooler: Akasa Venom
MotherBoard: Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H, Rev 1.0
Memory: 16GB Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9
Hard Drive OS: Crucial M4 64GB
Hard Drive Data: Western Digital 1TB Black WD1002FAEX
Optical Drive: LiteOn IHES112 Blu-ray
Graphics Card: nVidia 9800GTX+ 512MB
Power Supply: XFX XPS-850W-BES
Microsoft Windows 7 64bit Home Premium

What can you advice.

Thanks for your time.

Best Regards.

Is the system overclocked? if it is reset it back to defaults.

If you are using a old bios, the flash to a newer version.

Try a reinstall using latest drivers.

Sorry forgot to say the system is running at stock speeds, never been overclocked.

Also have tried updating the bios, I am running F15q.

Drivers are all upto date, not that I think that's an issue as the system will still even lockup in the bios.

Thanks again for your time.

did you check the m4 ssd for the dreaded 5400 hour use bug?

use ssdlife and see how many hours use it's had and update to latest firmware to cure it

it will randomly freeze/lockup if it is that

I doubt its the ssd then, but worth checking

it could be memory related if its locking up in the bios or psu related

are you using x.m.p memory profile for your memory? and try setting vcore voltage response to fast and pwm phase control to extreme performance

also try with 1.10v cpu/vtt for 16gb of memory

Thanks for your replies.

I have tried with X.M.P enabled, and disabled, I have also done manual adjustments to the X.M.P profile, and I am still getting this random lockup.

I have also seen else where about setting pck clock to 101 instead of auto, and disable c6/c3 in the cpu advanced features.

Once again my system still locks up at random times.

What BIOS were you running before you flashed to F15q?

Also CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 is not on the board's compatible memory list. Can you obtain compatible memory to test?

Also I would recommend powering up and leaving the system overnight in the BIOS. Before doing this unplug the discrete Gfx card and use the integrated solution. Also disconnect any HDDs and DVD drives. Also maybe flash back to BIOS F14 or earlier.

Because BarKeep the OP said it locks in the BIOS. So if he strips the system to minimum components and leaves in BIOS and system still locks up then he knows its between the components he has left.

I am still trying to work out the problem with my computer.

Removing all the hardware bar the basic parts, and running in just the bios is not possible at this item, due to needing a working system for work, etc.

I have removed the nVidia 9800GTX+ 512MB Graphics Card, and I am now running purely on the i7 integrated graphics.

I have been running like this for almost a week now without any lockups, but something new and strange has started.

Randomly the USB mouse disconnects and then reconnects, I am not yet sure if other USB devices are also doing the same, as they are not in use at the time it happens.

I have no idea if this is related to my locking up issue I have been having.

I have been on intel's web site, and done there auto scan, that shows all my intel drivers are upto date.

I will report back in due time.

Best Regards.

It does not seem to matter what port the mouse is plugged into.

Today I have been playing music via windows media player, and at the same time the mouse disconnects/reconnects the sound cuts out for less then a second, well more like it was paused.

there's dedicated usb ports for the mouse/kb next to the lan port try those

it has a sticker attached saying so
