Right. After spending about 10 hours yesterday installing and rebuilding my watercooled rig, I have ended up with a nice list of bios problems with this board which I have no idea how to fix.
Firstly, in windows using the gigabyte software, it said there was a new bios available, so i told it to install it. after a few mins it popped up failed. Didnt think much of it and continued installing windows updates and other updates. Upon reboot all I got as an endless stream of beeps, and it got stuck in a loop turning itself on and off again, sometimes beeping non stop for a few seconds before restarting itself, sometimes the gigabyte logo flashes up very briefly before it restarts itself, sometimes i just get a blank screen before it restarts itself. It seems inconsistent what it actually does. I think on ONE occasion after pressing various buttons including the 'safe mem' button, it actually booted into windows but I have been unable to reproduce that at all since (so I am not convinced its completely broken).
I tried touching the reset cmos jumpers, I tried pressing the reset cmos button, I tried pressing the safe mem button incase I had somehow overclocked something. Nothing has made any difference.
I then tried the bios_sw switch to use the backup bios, and this finally allowed me to boot ok without issues. flick the switch back to main bios again and i get the same issues.
I assume either the main bios is corrupt/faulty somehow or it was a bad flash or something. But I have no idea how I attempt to re-flash the main bios while using the secondary bios to boot, what I sure as hell am not going to do is attempt to flash this secondary bios and risk being left with a dead system so I need to make SURE that it is the main bios it is flashing.
The second issue which has now just popped up, i was setting up the second bios and decided I quite like fast boot times, so I set the fast boot option to ultra, and the "intel rapid start technology" to enabled. Rebooted and it did boot up a fair bit quicker......except I now cannot get back into the bios AT ALL. holding delete doesnt work, and pressing their "direct to bios" button which is supposed to take yuo direct into the bios on the next boot...does absolutely nothing. So apparently I am now left completely unable to get into the bios just because I turned fast boot on?!?!? I can boot nice and fast.....just cant get back into the bios!
I may be missing something as it has been 4 years since I build my last setup but this is ridiculous.
