gigabytes GTX560's

I have been looking at these as they seem one of the cheaper of the improved over reference cards.

My question is, is it worth getting the super OC one (core is 1000 cf with 900 and a little slower memory iirc) or do the majority of the basic "OC" ones hit the super OC speeds anyway?

both have superb cooling solutions on so i am thinking heat is not going to be an issue, so i can spend the extra 50 quid on summat else.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but from what I've seen, 1GHz core is a realistic target for a reference GTX560, but equally there are plenty of them that will fall short of this within Afterburner voltage limits.

thanks.... well, if it falls a little short its not the end of the world. stock is 900 with them anyway. am pretty mucxh decided that is what i am going for

the SOC ones are cherry picked and are guaranteed to work at 1000 mhz core
the OC ones are not guaranteed to work at 1000 mhz core although there is a very high chance that they will

Is much there difference between the coolers on the OC and SOC?

I think it all comes down to cost, would you pay an extra £50 for an extra 100 Mhz on the core, 580Mhz on the memory.

I woudn't pay an extra £50 for the SOC version, the OC version should overclock abit, I read on another site someone getting at least 50 Mhz on the core i.e. 950 Mhz.

If your willing to pay £250 your may as well pay an extra £10 or so and get a GTX 570 that will clock to within GTX 580 speeds.

The only reason the SOC version is £250 is because no where else has stock, so your paying an extra premium, it will drop to £225 or less in a few weeks you see.

i also ordered OC version, no point pay 50 more when you can get 570, will get all my staff delivered on monday, will post my thoughs

On Friday a competitor had the 1000 core 560 in stock at under £229/ it can still be pre-ordered at that price as its now sold out!

The card was cheaper at launch than now on here, a bit of supply and demand going on, if people do not demand, supply will go up and the price back down to its "normal" level!

as is with every part, is it ? anyway,see no reason pay even 30 more for midrange vga, especially when you can have fun overcklock it yourself

i agree.... actually when i posted this i thought the SOC only had a 20 quid premium over the OC and even then i was thinking of just going with the OC. i edited since posting as i realised my mistake.

hell it kind of does not matter anyway i guess, at the moment i will be gaming at 768p

although i do hope to buy a full HD gaming tv in the next 12 months. i would hope all cards in this range should be able to run everything max detail and with a good amount of AA on at a res as low as 1360x768!

Depends on the resolution or demands you make of it. The 570 has more vram as well, apart from the 2gb Gainward version of course.

I would save your money and get a GTX 560 or if you need the extra memory and run above a resolution of 1920x1200 get a 6950.

The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560Ti SUPER OC 1024MB is not worth it at £249.99, it's only priced that because now where else has it in stock, so people get suckered into buying it at a premium price.

The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560Ti OC, should do at least another 50Mhz on the core at least so not much in it then 50Mhz and will save you £50, I know I woudn't pay £1 for every 1MHz on the core.

I'm specifically talking about the SOC not the OC, as indications seem to be you are far from guaranteed to hit SOC clocks with an OC. At stock the 560 is some way off the pace of the 570?

TBH, it doesn't really matter. I would pay £25 more for a SOC but nothing more.
£10 if i was going to SLI

Well if all you are worried about is the SOC vs GTX 570, may as well get the GTX 570 because for the price of the SOC @ £250 you can get the GTX 570 and clock it to within GTX 580 stock speeds.

IF it was me buying now I would just buy the Gigabyte GTX 560 OC, I would feel like I've been robbed of £90 buying a GTX 570.

If money is no object buy whatever you want! lol

You cant get a GTX570 for the same price as a 560 SOC sadly - but you can get one for 35 quid more
