Gigging experience?

Ok maybe a slightly odd question but ive been playing guitar for about 5 years but I have very very little gigging/live music/band experience. Truth be told I have absolutely no idea how to even go about getting involved with a band. I know a couple of guitarists, but no drummers, vocalists or bass players and none of them really share my musical tastes or attitudes. Hows does a total noob like me go about finding people to play with?
 
Start going to local open mic nights, go to local recording studios and put ads on their noticeboard, plenty of internet sites for this kind of thing too.

Go to some jams. It's probably the best way, and if you find a good one you'll learn a lot and meet some great people :)
