Gimp help please!

I have 2 x gif images. One main image, the other a graphic to go in the main image.

If I open the main image, then right click & paste I just get a blue shape, like it's inheriting the colour from somehere - not my nice graphic

A an example would be I have a nice winter landscape and I want to paste a pic of Santa. But intead of Santa I get his outline and some washed out colour.

You need to reset the colour profile of the main image you're pasting into, although I'm not sure how to do that in Gimp.

Google says: "On the window of the image you have open go to the toolbar and select Image. Then select Mode. Next, select RGB."
