Trying to keep photographs out of the main thread and out of the ongoing debate about it...

Smoked lemon, Adnams gin and Fever Tree tonic. Having got in tonight after a couple of drinks this was a rush job. Three lamps in the kitchen, no real diffusers and ten minutes spare.

I've been rediscovering my 24-70 recently, and that was used for the first two before going to the Sigma 105 for the macro shot. They turned out ok but I was always going to struggle controlling the light with such an impromptu scene. The reflection on the glass on the second shot is annoying.

Good fun afterwards though!

I like #3.

Over Christmas I ended up pulling a slice of orange out of the mulled wine, propping it up with two cocktail sticks on the table and then lighting it from behind with a flash and taking the shot with a macro lens. That made for some interesting pics.

Maybe next time a lemoncello might look good on a black background. Also just curious, would a polariser help to cut down some of the reflection of the light sources on the glass?
