Anyone here owned or driven one of these?

Spotted some taking part in a GT race last year. Thought they looked pretty interesting!

And now DRIVE have just released a feature vid on them. Which turned out to be just as interesting.

Do they actually make them as a road car? I think I've only ever seen them on the track.

The G40 Junior is definitely available in road legal form, and looks like a great alternative to an Elise.

I think the G55 is as well, but they're both rare sights.

The premis is like Lotus' - lightweight and reasonably simple, but Ginetta specialises in the FR layout.

G40 only weighs 880Kg and around 200BHP if I remember right. Anyone else think it looks properly good? Really nicely proportioned - as the long nose & short tail combination usually is :p

Edit: 175Hp. Seems like they buy the powertrain from an MX5 directly off Mazda.

Been doing some research. The engine is sourced from Ford. Gearbox from Mazda.

Its one sexy car!

Local lad has driven one in the cup series for the last few years, he always has good things to say about them. Don't think he's had experience with the road going version seeing as he's just old enough to get his driving licence now :D

The Ginetta Junior Safety Car is a road legal G40. It looks amazing and is absolutely tiny when your next to one.

The problem is they are such small volumes that they end up being rather expensive. I think a G40 is about £30k, which is a hell of a lot for what is basically a tubular chassis and fibreglass body with a bought in engine and gearbox. If you've got the money and like the exclusivity then they would be a blast.

The Mazda MZR and the Ford Duratec engine are one and the same, i've always really liked the look of these but they're just too expensive really but they'd be an amazing weekend/trackday car. I wonder what the quality would be like too?

I live not far from the factory in Garforth. See them filling up at the Tesco's down the road from the factory. They look and sound good in person. Quick little cars on the back roads round here.

Owner cant be doing too bad either as he comes and goes in his helicopter all the time.

They seem very expensive for essentially a kit car. I can understand its appeal as a track car but I would much rather save over 5 grand and have a GT86. If you were to spend all the money you could even throw in a fensport turbo conversion on top for 260BHP.

But for 30k you're getting more than just the car. Watch the feature.
