You need 10 SATA ports?

Does using the M2 socket disable any of the SATA ports?

go for the 1000w evga P2 identical to the superflower but has a 10yr warranty and also don't have those god awful led lights on every output that are silly bright and pointless IMO

also pretty sure you'll find on that board the M2 ssd nullifies 4 of the sata ports.

off the asus site if you need all 10 satas i'd imagine your looking at raid

*3: Due to chipset behavior, The SATA6G_78, SATA6G_910 ports (black) do not support IRST including RAID configuration.
*4: These functions will work depending on the CPU installed.
*5: These SATA ports are for data hard drivers only. ATAPI devices are not supported.

Reading the notes below, i cant see anything that says the m.2 socket disables any of the sata ports, can you help clarify your concern as this would be a show stopper for me..

I do have 10 Sata drives (This is a dual function media server/nas)..none of them are raided (they are all backed up, their content rarely changes)

Thanks for suggestion, i had a look...the noise profile of the SF seems superior...noise is more important to me than warranty (ive never had a psu fail in the 6-10th yr). The sf is 25DBa at 600w, the EVGA p2 is 34DBa.

both, thanks for concern over the m.2 / sata coexistence, can you clarify..i cant see the problem...

the PCIe4_1 is i believe referring to the 1st x4 pcie slot..NOT (IMO) the M.2 slot (which happens to PCIex4)..(I wont be putting anything in the PCIe4_1 slot)

trust me the EVGA isn't 34db i'm sitting next to it now.

clearly shows the EVGA is quiter :confused:

i think your looking at the purple line by accident on the superflower

At 600 watts they both have the same noise level at 800 watts the superflower flys off 44db while the evga still sits at 34db. if you load falls sub 600watts your better off with the EVGA as the fan profile don't really kick in until the 600 watt mark anyway.

I researched these two power supllies in and out and decided on the evga because of the fan profiling.

i'm just looking into a definitive answer. Whats the liklyhood of you ever running something like 980Ti sli? or greater?

just skimmed the whole manual and can't see anything about it disabling any sta ports so you should be good to go.

Im swapping motherboard for x99-a usb 3.1....10 sata is enough (x99-s has 12)...a later revision board fills me with more confidence. + the usb 3.1 may come in handy in future. Hopefully buying a second hand gpu for £80 to tide me over until the process shrink/dx12 beds in.
