Essentially women geeks are trying to unite and have "dinners" with each other where they can talk about technology and being geeks.

Judging by the event organisers picture, they are clearly not looking to attract any men to these events. ;)

But good on the ladies anyway, more women and computers for everyone!

But surely by mimicking that you're just adding to the problem - surely they should be encouraging female+male events/clubs/groups - rather than female-only?

Feminism.

Would you advirtise to a mass of male geeks that there was a female only geek meeting if you were the female organiser? It would get ruined!

Imagine the hordes of OcUK followers turning up; mass ovary punching and pasty smashing all around.

(Although I see your point about "female only" organisations, the same could be said about male ones too).

Come on, that's a bit harsh.

You can't expect them to cook with a Dyson surely?

It's also quite difficult to wash/dry clothes with a dyson too!

I suggest perhaps "The only technology women need is a dyson and white goods".

That seems much fairer.

I mean jesus, we're arguing about some women having dinner together. Do people not realise this happens anyway, without the title?

I personally didn't know it was happening regarding my OP.

As in, I didn't realise female geeks were meeting up etc to discuss femininism and how to hack their way onto the internetz, etc.
