Come on guys, by the best I mean for the rig as it stands.
That is what I asked, without replacing case? psu? mobo? Everything is upgradable. The easiest thing to upgrade is graphics card, but he wont be happy if it crashes with that weak PSU. So if u upgrade at all (following his request of "the best"), then u must first upgrade psu, young grasshopper. ;)

Planning on teaching me eh?

Really dont want to spend any more on it. Just a better card than he's got.

Why so many deleted posts? Were they typical "omg a girl?? asl?" ones?
Probably.

As for power requirements, my X1800XT is running fine on a 460w Akasa, and I have little doubt that it'll run on something lower. If it were me I'd just try it with the current PSU, if it doesn't work or doesn't work as good as it should do then upgrade the PSU.

just go for the best card without a pcie connector, if you wanna leave the rest of the rig alone. The performance increase may not be great though..

it is nice to have some females around on the forum creates a balance, but the innuendo posts made by the hormone mongers usually causes them to shy away.

all this blabbing about you needing an uber PSU to run an x1800/x1900 is utter sheeet.

I've a good quality 400w silverstone PSU, both my CPU and GFX are overclocked, it powers a Watercooling loop, 3 120mm fans, 2 dvd drives, a WD Raptor and a thermal controller, and it eats all of them for breakfast.

Seven there's loads of cards on this page here (ATI),

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_X1300___X1600_Series_708.html

Your psu does concern me however, most of those cards seem (at first approximation) to be devoid of a pci-e power connector. If any of the guys here know any better I'm sure they'll chip in.

The other option is to ring OCUK tech dept, and ask them about a card you can pick out from that list, tell them your psu specs. I'll do a search over at the ATI site to see what the power requirements are for the 1600 card at the bottom of that link.

Come on guys, soemone must know something that'll perform ok with those games. Unfortunatley I have 2 1900's in Crossfire, so my knowledge of the lower cards is very limited.

Raja

No idea why some posts were deleted, perhaps not really "on-topic". Oh apart from the one that said "Marry Me" is size 18 font.

350w PSU is really cutting it a bit fine, with any graphics card upgrade today.

A PSU is an investment, like a monitor. Buy a decent one and it will last u several upgrades.

BTW what size and resolution is your monitor? It will help deciding what graphics card to use.

any good PCIx card will come with an adaptor so you can hook the 6 pin PCIx connector to a standrd molex.

The X1800XT does come with one, assuming that's the card being discussed. I am sure the other top-end ones will too.
