Right. I have to spend this weekend with my gf. But, on Saturday there's the small matter of Man U vs. Chelsea. I asked her if I could come to her house on Saturday afternoon after the football, and for some reason she went schiz because I think football is more important than her (not more important dear, AS important!).

She works Saturday morning til 2pm anyway, the football's only going on til 2.30 (I think). Now she wants me to come Friday night, but that would mean spending Saturday morning with her mum ( ) and trying to explain to the old girl that I need to go watch the football in the pub when she already thinks I'm an alcoholic

So my point is that I need an excuse that will let me watch the football, not go on Friday, and not get in trouble.Any ideas?

There's your problem. If you see spending time with her as a chore you should probably split up.

Oops, I didn't mean to say it like that. I really don't see it as a chore at all. Oh God, what if she thinks like all of you? Omg, maybe I should just do what she wants...

1. Go to missus' on Friday night
2. Say you're going into town to have a wander round on Saturday morning - actually do so and pick up a nice pressie for the missus.
3. Watch footy in pub.
4. Tell her you're watching the footy in the pub and for her to meet you, but you have a surprise
5. She meets you in pub - and you give her the pressie and watch the end of the game.

You legend. I might even throw in a high-five as a tribute to you.

Wow, that actually might work :)
