Girling Brake pads, anyone use em?

Wanted to get some good rear pads but the ones i wanted all out of stock and i needed some pads now... Rear pads very low , front pads are high performance tarox with tarox grooved pot holed discs or something hardly even warn :D

But rear pads are almost down to the metal , not good. I decided against the standard oem ones , and went for Girling which was abit more expensive.

Anyone got any info on these girling pads i just ordered?

p.s Mr2 Turbo

Many cars will come fitted with Girling pads as standard as they make a lot of standard fit braking systems.

No idea what the pads are actually like, but girling used to make loads of brake parts. The "powerstop" servos on Triumphs were all Girling as were most if the calipers they used, if I remember rightly.

They've certainly been around a while and while I doubt they'd be as great as some of the big sports names in regards to actual performance, I doubt they'd be rubbish.

Ok so i read the title as Girl breaks pads.....

Girling are alright, nothing special, remember front does something like 80% of the braking anyways....

Thanks guys , its just i tried to do some hard braking lately ( out of the way , country lanes, full view ahead ) and well instead of stopping it would go dudd dudd dudd judder stop and i was like stop you beep.

Thought this aint right my car stops in no time checked the pads yup rear's almost have no pads. Safe to say im getting it sorted now for safety reasons :D

p.s I really should get used to the brake pumping thing

When the ABS system is in operation you will feel a pulsing in the brake pedal; this comes from the rapid opening and closing of the valves

Is this what i felt? , felt it through the brake pedal

Anyone got any tips of improving the braking system? Ie i want to feel the pain in my neck when i put the brakes on :D

Replace all of your brake lines with braided hoses (the pipes going from your calipers to the copper lines)...

This is supposed to firm them up a treat! Alternatively, i think some folk have replaced the MR2 brakes with 4-pots from Celica GT4s...

A typical fluid bleed / replacement will help no end too!

Done the bleed already and replacement , got some pretty high powered brakes and pads on the front , very expensive too :o

So it seems like Braided hoses is the next step

Thankyou :)

If you heat cycled those Tarox pads and disks when you fitted them then your car should stop silly fast :D

I have them on my Peugeot 306 Gti-6 and they are amazing combined with my Toyo Proxe tires. I'm sure now I have upgraded them that if I brake correctly they would actually stop the car faster than if I just hit the pedal hard and the ABS comes on. If I brake hard you really feel everyting digging in but go to far and the ABS comes on and it doesnt feel as though the brakes are doing as much as just before the ABS cut in??

It didnt feel like that with the standard setup but I know that they were no where near as good as the Tarox setup I have now. I only have standard pads on the rear of mine though at present.

Braking sorted now , both pad sides badly worn(rears)... The pads at the back of the rear discs one block of the pad had nothing left  and the pads facing me on the rear discs only had 1cm of pad left.

If id left it any longer i wouldve basically only been braking from the front tis all good now though :D

Sounds like you must have a caliper that works on opposing forces, as in there is only one piston and it relies on opposite forces to pull the other pad against the disk.

Make sure all the pins that slide are greased etc and this should reduce this effect though I still get this happening on the rear pads on my 306 too :(

Glad you got it sorted though.
