Right, I've been looking at 3 Graphics Cards...

GTX 260
4870
5850

Now, I have a Q6600 and 8GB of 8500 RAM, and I'm just looking for something truth be told to go with my system as I'm just building something simple up for Win7 really. Now, my question is... they all have good plus points for being bought... If it were you, which one would you go for? If you were looking for a card right now, which one in your heart of hearts would you go for?

Being completely honest, I'm just completely stuck between them - I convinced myself for a while to wait for the 5850 and get a decent graphics card that can last me a long way, but the drivers for it are always going to be an issue and it might just render the point of buying it useless...

The 4870... value for money, yay.

260 ... same as above really, but from what I see, depending on which manufacturer you go for, you usually get better performance out of these badboys than you do out of 4870, but you obviously pay more.

Like I ask, which would you go for? Or is there another card you wanna throw out there for me... I just wanna get a massive community response here so I can justify buying whatever I do, haha.

Cheers in advance guys!

EDIT: Forgot to add, my current GFX Card is a 3870, with 512mb of RAM and it's fared me well for a while, but it's time to say gooooodbye, methinks.

When they are released go for a 5850, new tech, new features and sublime performance, the small premium you pay over the other cards you mentioned will be 100% worth it.

This is exactly my situation also, however I have decided to wait until the 5850 has some reviews also maybe the x2s of the 58xx series will be out by then (and maybe some price reductions of the older cards).
I would probably go for a 275 over a 260 and a 4890 over a 4870 - In both cases I would say paying the extra ~£20 is worth it.

Personally in my situation I would buy a GTX260 but that is purely down to the fact that I can reuse in my hackintosh. Can't say the same about the 4870, otherwise I would buy the 4870.

I can then wait for the new Nvidia to launch and see what the comparison is like between that and the 5870 refresh that ATI launch at the time, and buy the top performing card.

As a question to the thread starter, why would the 5850 drivers always be an issue.

Is it just because the card is new ATI are a lot better then they used to be with the driver support and surely that would also affect the 4870. As they release new drivers once a month these days I wouldn't see that as a reason to avoid the 5850.
