I'm allmost ready to buy my wholly new system, maybe in few weeks i will order it but still i'm confused on what monitor to buy...

Obviously the first factor is that im going to game on it a lot...:D

on the other hand i'll need for college...meaning office,internet,programming,web design,photosop maybe...:p

Well been looking for some monitors at OcUk and stopped on some particular ones...

LG M2794D 27inch
(dont understand much about monitors...but if 27 has 1920 by 1080 then pixels will be streched to 27 inches? so that will make quality worse and i'm going to see squares like on 42in ones?)))

Viewsonic VX2433wm 24inch

Samsung T260 26inch

So many choices...Please help me people!

And also suggest any other screen within J350 limit...

Thanks in advance!!!

Of course you're not going to see the pixels in the same way as a 42" screen, a 42" screen is far far bigger than a 27" screen.

27 inches isn't nearly enough to make the screen terrible quality. 32 inch TVs look decent enough at 1080p.

Also, what's J350?

If you have the moonies, then this monitor is a peach.

Some people will whine about input lag - but the A01 version (the one you should receive) has somewhat remedied that. I know myself and many others game on it and simply cannot notice it.

Furthermore, the monitor has lovely image quality with superb colours and blacks, plus very nice viewing angles. A great monitor for pretty much any situation.

Alternatively, this is another great performing monitor for a bit more money.

Ohhh that's a little toooo much for money...350pounds max

Sorry 350pounds...What do you think about this LG? Is it worth buying for a 27inch? and how good is it in terms of quality? will i be able to play games on it greatly?:D

Better yet, give me it's downsides please

For me, the big issue is that it is a TN panel
Now there is plenty of conjecture about panel types, but - in more or less all cases - TN panels suffer from reduced colour accuracy & poor viewing angles. That said, they offer fast(er) response times.......
If only for gaming, then perhaps this is not an issue, but for anything vaguely colour-specific you might well be disappointed ?
Then again, the TN panels used for TVs *do* seem to be less afflicted by viewing angle problems...

Bottom line, horses for courses ;)

Investing in a monitor is a lot like investing in a woman. The more you put in, the more you will see ;)

Dell, HP and NEC have the best monitors at the moment. They're worth an extra 50 quid or 75 respectively. :)

I've got the 2407WFP so this one will be fantastic as well!

Is that HP the one Custom PC recently reviewed and gave top marks for?

This is the only factor tha really confuses me...Panel types:mad:
So should i go for TN panel...because IPS panels are expensive...i mean will i see a difference...(never had a monitor in my life lol)

right now i have a Acer Laptop 6920 it is a 16inch but for me it's great...yeh viewing angles s*ck when i watch movies on my bed while its on the table...

I dont really know what to say anymore...So lets presume i get this LG 27inch...it would be at a bad viewing angle to watch from my bed? if it says 160degrees vertical...i dont think i have that angle from my bed...:eek:

you must have shocked when i said i never had an actual monitor lol

im building new Pc systemand want a good LCD with the system but im not sure whether to go for a 24 inch or a 27 inch :(
It will make a huge difference from 16inch lol:D

I'm also going to buy 4870x2 so i think it will keep up to the monitors right?

the only thing i got left t choose is a monitor...nothing else...

Please HEEELP
meaning don't go over 350pounds or else i will shatter lool and actaully go for some crazy expensive one:confused::confused::confused:

If you are looking to only spend £350 max, then I suggest you do one of two things:

1) Get this (act quick) or similar b-grade/2nd hand monitor like a dell 2408/2407.

2) Don't spend that ammount of money on a TN panel monitor. Either save up some more for a £400 non-TN one or downscale your budget to perfectly acceptable one like this.

Edit: Or get one of these when they come back in stock, E-IPS panel and absolutely lovely.

The one you said about samsung t240?
Is it TN? or?

B-Grade means second hand?...Not keen on buying second hand one...

About Dell who knows if t will ever come back but i plan to buy in 3 weeks

I mentioned the samsung t240 because it is pretty good value and a lot of the people on the forums have one and are pretty happy with it. Don't get me wrong, its a TN so the image quality and viewing angles have nothing on a VA or IPS panel monitor. But If you don't have the money for one of those - its an acceptable backup. Certainly not worth spending the full £350 on a TN.

This dell may not state an ETA on ocuk but from what I hear they should be coming back to UK retailers by the 10th of July. Hopefully when you are buying your monitor you will give it a look, as it is your only new, non-TN panel you can get for under your budget.

Been looking around and found Asus PG221 gaming monitor...have u ever seen it

But most probably i am going to buy th SAmsung T240...
I guess 4870x2 will run great on it lol

That asus screams "gimmick". It's only a 22" tn panel and some redundant extras and costs more than the 24" t240.

The t240 is a perfectly fine monitor, but if the dell 2209wa is back in when you order - get that.

Thanks a lot for the Help!
Well maybe my budget will increase and i buy that Dell 24inch or even maybe Hp one but i dont know how will it be later on...

My budget on the new PC system is about 1400 pounds so maybe you can suggest a system...;)

Obviously i want i7

The other issue is the graphics card...

You think i should go for 4870x2? or 4890?
But i presume if i buy a 4890 ill have that money for the monitor(DELL 2408WFP)..and maybe later on i buy another 4890?

That will drop off about 100 pounds off from 4870x2...shall i invest in a monitor?:D

Sound good. I'll spec you up a system when i get back to my pc at 12.45.

As for the graphics card, I'd recommend going for a 4890 now, spend the money saved on one of the monitors we talked about. As you said, you can always add another 4890 when they are even cheaper.

That would be great, many thanks in advance ;)
Can't wait :D

Righto, how does this look?

If you want to add a second 4890, this PSU might be a better bet (£12 more).

Wow that looks good...i might say rather good...:D

Though i was thinking

Case...wouldnt go for antec 300...maybe 902 ;)
OS... haha i dont need because i allready got one ;)
Mobo...You think gigabite are better than Asus P6t ones?
PSu...you think corsair 650 wouldn't have enough power to take on 2 of gfx cards?

Everything else is perfect i guess...How do you make those screenshots?
So maybe i will make my own system and show you :D

Thanks a lot

Case...902 case is great, should more than pay for itself with the removal of the OS from the price list.

Mobo.....Both ASUS and gigabyte make brilliant X58 boards and you will not go wrong with any of them. I have a P6T Deluxe v2 and my friend has a UD5. In all honesty I like the UD5 better, seems better laid out and overclocks fantastically.

PSU....Sorry, I should have made this more clear. The corair is a good PSU to just power that rig I specced. If you want to go for Crossfire 4890s then this power supply is the one to look at.

Cooler...The fenrir is a very good cooler, but it can be a bit loud at full speed. As you have a bit of money left to play with due to removing the OS, you could upgrade to this cooler and this fan.

Screenshots..... Simple really: Make basket in OCUK shop, press Alt+Print screen, copy image to paint, crop image in paint, save as a .png file (nice quality), go to http://www.imageshack.us/ , select image, click upload, copy direct link to image, click on the "insert image" button in the message part of the OCUK forums, paste in direct link into popup box, Job done.
