Ok so I fired up ETQW BETA 2 tonight after reading there had been an update and decided to test on my GTX performance. Needless to say I was pleasently suprised I had a lot of fun, the game didnt lag like it used to, neither did the mouse. The game seemed to feel better , anyway I've decided I will be getting it on release. The aiming seemed a lot better aswell. Anyone else changed their mind about it?

Played beta2 a couple of times when it was first released but since then, no. Just doesn't hit the spot although...I still believe it has great potential.

Yea I played BETA 2 when first released but seemed to experience massive mouse lag even when the FPS was high it felt like crap. Since the update that came out for BETA2 it seems it has improved it a ton. I'll give it a go when it's released. Plus i'll try the demo tommorow.

The demo's tomorrow? I might give it a try providing its a different map from beta1/2.
Speaking of the demo, do you know that the TGL are holding a tourney in which prizes can be won? it might be worth assembling a team and enter the tourney.

I totally agree. I played the beta one for about an hour or so and took it off my preorder list. But playing beta two, I am beginning to really enjoy it. So if anyone hasn't tried the latest versions, give it another go :)

Great I love that map. Also Quake Wars looks stunning in my opinion. When you get atop a hill and have a view of the whole map it looks superb :D

was about to ask where do i find beta2 to download but to be honest iv forgotten my account name, no rush if the demo is due tommorow(is this right? I can wait a week or 2 really :)) though, glad to hear a few people saying they like how its gone, because i HATED beta1.

Guess I learnt my lesson don't judge a product from a beta. Providing I have a good time with the demo tommorow my rpe order will be back on :D

Always loved ETQW, valley map in beta 2 is awesome and just looking at the official site it looks like a totally new map for the demo (Slipgate) ? :D

"Yahoo Offers ETQW Demo Footage, Reveals New Map
Submitted by badman on Sat, 2007-09-08 18:46.

Yahoo has kicked up a few special bits of Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars coverage in anticipation of the imminent demo launch. First up is footage of the Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars demo, available in HD and normal-sized flavors. They also take a look at a map not previously covered at all - Slipgate. Promising that it's "unlike any other map you've ever played", Slipgate is one of the twelve maps found in the full version of ETQW and features two completely different environments. Yahoo's write-up covers all of the map's objectives in great detail and offers a few never-before-seen screenshots."

The Betas tested my faith, but my pre-order is still there :)

Hope I can get time to do a nice re-install to max my performance...

God save all games developers if their customers decide whether or not to buy their games based on THE BETA VERSION!!

Everyone repeat after me: IT'S NOT MEANT TO BE A DEMO!!!

If you didn't like the core mechanics of a game, then fair enough, but saying it's crap based on the beta being buggy and laggy is inane...

Even with the core mechanics there's a bit of latitude, especially with id games where the movement speed and "feel" of a game is often a matter of low-level code, not a design decision. In the Tabula Rasa beta they were asking players to "rate" each quest they did on a scale from boring to great, so almost EVERYTHING about a game is still up in the air when it's at beta, nothing is finalised!

Jesus, I nearly fell asleep reading that. Thanks for telling me nothing I didn't already know.

most stuff is fairly finalised actually, on the basis of 2-3 years work very little can change. but the little changes can effect the game largely. the problem most people had with it was the game just felt bad, not just laggy. the weapons, aiming the first map and just a lot of stuff from beta 1 felt bad. not even had a look at beta 2.

if the maps are bad/boring then it doesn't matter about all that much else. but personally, i didn't like the vehicles at all, they just weren't fun in the slightest to play. most of the weapons felt pretty terrible and again, just not fun to use. the strogg(i can't think what they are called if not that) should have been new and original and fun to play, but again the weapons, vehicles and stuff were just boring. i guess the demo will be about as final as it will get, so i'll give it a whirl.
