I'm finally in a frame of mind able to type a post about this amazing festival. What were other people's opinions who made it to the festival? I'll start with the gripes so that my post ends on a more positive note:

No Squarepusher: I was totally gutted when we got the line up on entry to see he wasn't there. Certainly put a dampener on things as it was the main reason I went. I knew it was a risk going to a festival with a pretty secret line up. I'd have got tickets for Global Gathering had I known he wasn't there (just to see Daft Punk and the awesome DnB tent).

Not enough DnB: A Hospital tent would have gone down a treat. Also, the fact that the line up was kept from people until they arrived would have meant the bad apples of the DnB crowd that they used as an excuse not to have more DnB would not have turned up. Someone like Swift would have really blown the crowd away after Zinc's mind blowing set.

Water taps: What water taps?

8pm finish on Sunday. TOO EARLY. There was nothing at all after. I and the group I was with were forced to dance to some bongo drummers for a few hours until our bodies gave up/ goodies ran out. Even this was interrupted by security occasionally asking them to stop.

The sound system in the breaks tent: I thought that tent would be my home for the weekend, but it was too quiet :( Thank god for the overkill tent.

Now the highlights (and there were many):

Spongle: This was the first set I managed to catch due to spending the first five hours of the festival rolling down hills and watching the trees talk to each other. Utterly mind blowing set. The sound was perfect, the visuals were stunning and the crowd really went off. They really know how to make a certain drug far more potent and pulled it off with immense style.

Scotch Egg: Pure genius. Music made on a gameboy, lots of energy, damn entertaining. Nuff' said. A set longer than 20 minutes would have delivered.

Ack Ack Ack: One of the standout sets of the entire weekend. I've not seen a performer with that much energy in a long long time. It was one hell of a dark set too. Not enough love has been given to his performance.

65 Days of Static: I wish it had been cooler so I could have danced my a*** off. Pure aural pleasure!

Vitalic: Exceeded all my expectations. I'd heard his live show was somewhat lacking, but his sound was spot on, the bass made my head vibrate and although this is a cliché... dropping "la rock" in the middle of the set really set the crowd off. I would make love to this man if I was that way inclined.

Countryside Alliance Crew: Like GLC, except with actual good tunes. Laughed and danced my a*** off.

Ceephax Acid Crew: Can't remember much, but I remember enjoying him immensely.

I wish I could have stuck around for the rest of the Bangface evening as it was apparently legendary. I may well have stuck around... I'm not too sure (it's all a little hazy). Even so, this was by far the best festival I've been to in years. It easily beat The Big Chill in 2004 and hammered Glastonbury 2005 (both of which were rather epic moments of my life!).

Sorry for the long post: got carried away. :)
