Glass window cut for case?

Hi, for my current project I was wondering if it would be possible to replace the acrylic/plexi window with a glass panel since it can be removed it easily by unscrewing the nuts/things. I went to a local place and they wanted £36 for a 400x200 piece which seems a bit pricey and they said it would have to be secured using rubber grommets to the side of the case and shouldn't touch the side panel or threads which seems odd.

So does anyone have any ideas on how I can go about getting a glass side panel, as always any help is appreciated :)
 
What case? £36 doesn't sound too bad to me, especially if they need to do a bit of work to it. Is it tempered though? I wouldn't really want regular old glass for a side panel personally. It isn't as strong, scratches easier and if it breaks (which is also easier), it would shatter.

Yes it is tempered, it's the first time I've had to inquire about having glass cut for a PC so I'm not too sure about cost myself it's just that £36 seemed a fair bit. Also is it true about the glass not making contact with the nut/thing and the case side panel :)
 
Can't comment on the price. But the rubber bit is pretty normal for tempered glass cases I have found. My current main builds case uses the method they described. So a screw with rubber cover on to which the glass goes on, no contact between the metal and glass that way. I think the below is what they are trying to suggest. The grey bit is rubber.

However it depends on how thick the glass is. My Lian-Li also has tempered glass, but gets away with pinning the glass to the frame as the glass is fairly thick. However it does have a very soft rubber like material also on the screw pinning the glass to frame.

Well at least I learned something new there, the bit they wanted me to use was

as the holes they could cut could only be as small as 6mm but the Caselab bolts are smaller than that so they pad them out as well as protecting the glass. Also I was wondering how to seal the glass on the side panel so dust isn't sucked in?

Finding one the right thickness would mean less work for you cutting it to fit. Wonder if there's something even better than that, though.

Thanks for letting me know about that, it will certainly make it easier than using the rubber grommet/things as I can line where the glass will be positioned so it doesn't push the glass too far back :)
