Today I had an eye test and it was decided I needed glasses for computer use/reading.

With them on text looks so much sharper, clearer and easier to read. When I take them off it just looks all fuzzy and not sharp. Suprised at how much of a difference glasses can make and I was told my eye site wasn't even that bad!

Anyone else notice a big difference when they first got glasses?

Yup.

Can still remember the disorienting feeling of new glasses too, depth perception seems to get buggered for a while before your eyes adjust.

I did. I originally got glasses when I was around 4, but once I reached around 10 I was getting bulled for wearing them, so I pretty much just stopped wearing them. Think it affected my education some what due to my inability to read the blackboard and what not, but never mind.

The time when i realised I needed them again was when I was about 12/13, trying to read the VCR to program it, and I realised I couldn't read anything on the front unless I was about a foot away. My results started to improve in school from this point too.

Needless to say, I've worn them since, can't do without them now, and actually feel I look better with glasses that without lol.

I had some disorientation when I first got my reading glasses but it passes quickly. Computer screens are fine but I can’t read without them when the text is small or the light is bad.

I remember it vividly. Before getting glasses i had no idea that there was anything wrong.

18 years on and my eyes are even worse (about -6 in each eye). what that means is that while stuff is sharp when i have my glasses on, everything also looks smaller than it actually is. EG, my 24" monitor looks larger when i have my contacts in than when i have my glasses on.

Its not a problem, you just don't realise until its quite bad.

Yes I did. Only in one eye though (my left is the rubbish one, wanted a monacle....). I always thought my eyesight was pretty decent even with a bit of a naff side but the difference is night and day now if I do or dont have my glasses on.

nope - last time i went for an eyetest, all of the test-lenses made it either worse or didn't make a difference. :(

i wish i needed glasses though, I love wearing them.

I had this when I first got mine for reading as after some time reading books and things I started getting terrible head aches and things going blury :( not fun in exams so got some but managed to scratch them a tiny little bit bang on in the middle so I found it hard using them :P

Since had my eyes tested and there better :?

I had some glasses for the first time a few weeks back, ended up having to go back a few times as i was just not comfortable in them. finally settled in, however i feel i dont need them as much at the moment than when i got them.

Just find some frames you like and pop the lenses out. Jobs a good un.

Yep, I still appreciate it every time I put them on. Even when people ask to try my glasses, and then inform me that they aren't very strong, they make a huge difference to my sight.

how on earth did you end up wearing glasses enough to know you love wearing them if you don't have any? :p

Buy some poser glasses from the opticians with just plain lenses? :p

My vision was never bad to the point where I thought I needed glasses, it was mainly headaches which I'm still not sure were caused by computer use, but the optician said to wear them all the time when watching tv, reading and PC.

The frames I have feel a bit awkward on my face at the moment, but I guess I've got to get used to them!

Yep, I told my mum for about a year that I struggled to see things, She didn't believe me and thought i was lying because "I wanted glasses" =/

Had glasses for about 7 years now, wear them all day everyday practically blind without them :P

Hand starts going fuzzy about 20CM in front of my face.

My eye sight fails :P

Went for a test last year when I was struggling when playing sport to see the ball as clearly as before. Found I was slightly short-sighted and got glasses. It was weird wearing them out for the 1st time - everything was so sharp. I remember thinking everything was in 3d.
