Ok, on Thursday I went for my eyes tested at specsavers (always had good service at a local one when I lived at home) but I went to the busy one in Manchester Arndale centre, now the eye test seemed to be over very quick, and the optician was not very helpful, but I answered the questions fine, you know the "is the text clearer with 1 or 2" (different lenses) etc. and got my prescription.

I then went on to choose 2 pairs of glasses, one with reactions. However I picked them up yesterday and they seem REALLY off, in terms of strength, so much so it actually gives me headaches within about 10 minutes of wearing the new ones.

Can I actually go back and do anything about it? I've had glasses for many years and I know that these prescriptions are not right, they actually hurt! I think I might ring up the specsavers I used to go to and get them to send me my prescription to compare.

Anyone had any experience of this?

Cheers

you should just take it back to them and simply tell them they dont feel right. The will probably test them to check the prescription and by the sounds of it, it will turn out to be the wrong one.
It is an offence for them to sell you glasses with the wrong prescription in. Someone I used to work with took Boots the optician to court because they wrongly prescribed her sons glasses and it ended up damaging his vision slightly.

yup just go back into the place and say they hurt your eyes and dont feel right. dont just blame it on the fact that the test was over quick, might not be the case.

You should have had the results of the eye test given to you, compare that with the last 1, if you can find it, if not the previous specsaver branch will have it there should'nt be much difference unless you're over 35-40, new glasses do take a while to get used to but you will already know that.

Yes. Although the Specsavers I belong to now have never given me or my OH any problems, a few years ago they got my mum's prescription mixed with someone elses and her glasses were totally out of whack. That badly that she couldn't leave the shop with them, but there's no reason it couldn't have happened to you too.

Also, I have had reason in the past to complain about the Arndale store. Totally unhelpful, after a daily lens split in my eye I went to them and explained the situation and although they had spare 'trial' ones in stock, their optician had gone home (in the middle of the afternoon!!) and they 'couldn't' get through to my branch to find my prescription, so would not give me a spare.

I know they have legalities to stick too, but tbh they weren't interested and were much happier in sending me off with only the sight in one eye (I am very short sighted) to drive home 30 miles, because as I belonged to a different branch of specsavers it 'wasn't their problem.'

One pair I had a few years ago were a step up from my previous pair and I was advised to put them on when I got up the next morning and that sorted that one, but they weren't too bad when I first put them on, just a bit strange.

As others have said, just go back in and say they don't feel right, the people in the branches I've visited have always been very helpful.
