Are you a glider? :)

If so, I would like to ask you which Android app would best suit for 'recording' a flightpath?

I am aware that such apps are not 'approved' for verification of one's flight. I am not yet to the point where I will buy a proper flight logger that is approved.

I am on a flying course for 1 week (next week) and would like to run a flightlogger in the background on my Galaxy S2 mobile (ie. not on display, but to leave the screen off and run it in the background, recording the GPS trails, INCLUDING the altitude, as well). This way, I can concentrate on the training element and to "stop" the flight recordings after landing, etc. ;)

The apps I have looked are:
XCSoar
Gaggle
RocketRoute
SeeYou Recorder

I have not tried them all, but would like to ask you all for your opinions, first. That's only if you have flown a glider yourself...

Many thanks! :D

I use xcsoar, on a Dell Streak 5. The streak 5 has a decent nearly trans reflective screen, so pretty good in daylight. Use an external USB power supply and jobs a good un :)

Gliders. Keeping the UK Airprox Board busy each and every day :p

I just posted to get that jibe in. I can't help with your app request but I do use an app called Air Nav which is quite handy in an aeroplane. Not much use to you unless you're into cross country gliding but very handy for a rough position fix and groundspeed readout.

Worst "I'm rich I own a glider" thread ever.

That was not a nice comment, Creative!11...

I am not rich and I am a complete beginner, about to start a course in gliding. In fact, you DON'T have to own a glider. You just join a gliding club, and you can use the club's own gliders at membership's rates. You just don't own them at all.

Of course, anyone can buy a glider, but that is way beyond my pocket money!!

I know TimMatrix, give this guy a rest please and respect him. He isn't rich. He love to flying as a hobbies. The club own it but he can go there and pay membership and pay solo flight lesson.

He even take me there once last year and I pay only £8 for the winch flight. Beautiful experience!

Thank you, Bulldog. :D:D:D:D:D

I'll let you know how I got on and whether I achieved solo status or not. Wait and see.... ;)

You're be fine. You learned a lot from Microsoft Flight Simulator, X Plane and now glider flight. I am sure u will be passed and become a solo instructor. Good luck mate. :)

Ha ha, thanks Bulldog. But seriously, becoming an instructor is a long way off, probably 2-3 years time, depending on experience, exam tests, medical, etc.

:D
