The choice of Valve comes as no surprise, given that it’s one of the API’s strongest proponents. After all, it’s what SteamOS is based on and Valve has always said that the future of PC gaming is a Windows-free, DirectX-free one.

This, along with the expected large presence of Steam Machines at the conference, could mean very interesting announcements are on the horizon for Valve’s Steam Machines and PC gamin as a whole.

GDC 2015 takes place March 2-6 in San Francisco.

lol they really hate what microsoft is doing with next windows
im not a huge steam fan but a lot are so i dont think they should be so worried
still wish them luck :)

Tip of the spear with this one, but I wish them every success. Personally I feel like Mantle has lost momentum, so I'm all about an open cross-platform (and cross vendor) solution. It's the logical next step evolution for APIs.

Now. More importantly. Valve are at GDC 2015.

GDC finishes on March 6th... 2nd API to come to come into the frame...

6/2 = 3

3 provide my mobile phone... coincidence? I think not.

Oh Gabe, who art at Valve
Hallowed be thy name
Thy steam box come
Thy games be fun
On Steam as it is at Valve
Give us this day our daily sales
And forgive us our peasantries
As we forgive those who commit peasantry against us
Lead us not into consoles
But deliver us from next gen
For thine is the market, the power, and the glory
For ever and ever

Or Valve to have a sufficiently big step change they need to underpin with a AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA title release...

I thought it was SteamOS/Steam Machines, but now I wonder if this is it. Simultaneous cross-platform, API touting HL3 gloriousness running on SteamOS on a Steam Machine.
