We use Exchange 2000 at the company I work at, recently one of our users changed his job role, so wanted a whole new username and e-mail address. We entered him into the exchange but now theres 2 names in the GAL and people are getting confused as to which name to send e-mails to (internally this is). Is there any way to hide his old e-mail address from the global address list? We can't delete his old account because the e-mails are being forwarded to someone else. I can do this in exchange 2003 but not in 2000! Please help me someone! Thanks in advance

Go into Active Directory Users & Computers
Bring up the old username details.
Click the "Exchange Advanced" tab and check the box "Hide from Exchange Address Lists"?

Thats how its done in Exchange 2003 isn't it? No exchange advanced tab in exchange 2000, I have been through all the options and can't seem to find anything that will hide the address

It should be there in Exchange 2000 environment as well, it was in ours.

That is indeed correct, are you running AD users and computers from a PC with Exchange System Administrator on it if not it won't have the right tabs allthough that would leave you with no exchange tabs.

You need to turn on Advanced Features in the menu on the Exchange Snapin on versions before 2003 - its there by default otherwise.

Can't remember the options you have top left on the Exchange 2000 MMC but its under File or View or something like that - there should be a selectable view to include Advanced Features.

Then the Advanced tab will appear on each user.
