Is there a way top set a NV GPU to never pass 144fps?

When playing battlefield i game at 72c, in the menus between games my gpu hits 92c and has to throttle...
battlefield as always been like this but its starting to wee me off, fans sitting at 50% then bam 100% pc screaming for mearse.

thats the one guys, thank you very much, i have Gsync set to on and made the assumption i would set 144 to everything
 
It's normally advised to set it to a few frames less than your monitors refresh rate so it stays within its Gsync threshold, so in your case, 141, just like Alt0153 above has done.
Otherwise if you're hitting the 144 framerate cap, Vsync may kick in, or tearing if Vsync is not enabled. :)

Thanks, I’d just ordered a dp cable so I can finally hit 165 of my screen lol. But for now I will drop it.

The annoying thing is even with Vsync on in the game menus, it still runs away between rounds
 
Not sure if it has anything to do with it but it's always recommended to have Vsync turned on via the Nvidia control panel and always turned off in the in-game menus, for Gsync to work its best. Always worked sweet for me setting it that way.

That’s what I had done. But for some reason in battlefield as fair back as bad company it’s always run away between rounds. BFV was very bad
