Just a quick question...

Am I right in thinking that the orange warning light in the photo above is related to the Glow Plugs? It's a hire car and conveniently they don't include the manual :(. Car is a Suzuki Grand Vitara diesel (and it's a piece of ***** if you're thinking of getting one!).

If it is to do with the Glow Plugs, any particular reason it would be illuminated whilst the engine is running (and has been running a while!).... especially somewhere where now it's dark it has dropped to 29C and was 39C earlier.

TY all.

Hopefully its something terminal that'll kill it off entirely (What better fate for a Vitara?)

Its a hire car, not your problem (although it may be wise to notify them of the issue so they can't try to say you have broken it!) and in such a warm climate, I doubt very much you'll need the 'plugs to start it anyway!

If it's to do with the Glow Plugs I'm perfectly inclined to ignore it. Heck, someone could (or probably has) remove the glow plugs and they'd never notice! But without a manual there's the nagging thought in my mind of "What if the light is not about the glow plugs?".

Thinking about it, the pre-heating light in most diesels I've driven looks more like a coil wheras this light I'd describe more as a signal trace / heartbeat.... and I can see energy's logic in saying its ECU related. Hmmm.

The car has more rattles than my Saxo, and less torque than my Saxo. Runs pretty rough tbh, keep looking behind expecting a cloud of smoke! But I've never driven a Suzuki before (let alone a Suzuki diesel) so for all I know it could be that they're all pretty crap!

One useful bit of info I can add is that some journeys the light has come on part way through (and then remained on) and others it's been on from the start (and remains on). I've never seen the light go off once it has been on.

39 degrees?

Yeah, too hot IMHO! Was practically dying :(, and the reverse-osmosis water tastes skank (but is safe to drink apparently) so I was getting through soo much bottled water! Gonna be a far more sensible 32C for a few days now :D.

Re the car, I'm having doubts about the light being glow plug related now :( (it was just an un-informed guess!)
