Quick question for any boiler experts out there please

re the temperature displayed on a 12HXi boiler - its called "water temp" and is adjustable by the user

is that the return water temp ? or the output water temp from the boiler ? I'm assuming its the output water temp ?

and that I've read that the return water temp should be about 60C to get condernsing to work properly and boiler to work as effeciently as possible

but how do I know what the return temp is ?

I've in my mind - with an average seemingly delta (reading on the internet) of 20C from output to return, that either I've the boiler set about 10C too hot, or 10C too low depending on what its actually reading

thanks for any advice :) - much appreciated

Output temp. Of course return temp depends on number of radiators and what settings each radiator is at.

thanks very much for the replies

I'm guessing its not easy to measure the return temp ? and I'm also guessing that the return temp is probably more than 10C lower than the output temp, perhaps I'll bump it up a bit more

I think you'll find 60C (return water temp) a cutoff not a target! Above that temperature the boiler will no longer be able to effectively condense. The lower your return water temperature the better.

This is actually the dirty little secret of condensers. In many installations once the system is fully up to temperature the water temp is too high for the boiler operate in condensing mode.

Does the boiler tell you the flow temperature of the Domestic Hot Water? Just curious, I think your question has already been answered.
