Gluing In Broken Window - Need Help?

Just got my rear quarter Focus window in the post:

Can someone clarify, the spongy stuff is the old adhesive and must be removed, right?

Do I have to apply a primer to the glass and car body? If so which one?

What is the best polyurathane adhesive to use?
