General Motors Corporation

This company has we all know is huge, one question ive got how many car maufacturers do they actually own? iirc Vauxhall, Saab, Volvo?? :confused:

Thanks MB, I noticed Isuzu and Suzuki are "running" on their network too, Do actually own them too? How does that work?

Man, i just checked their defense network, that company must make loads of money developing vehicle for military need all around the world.

I believe they distribute them through their network and service them in certain countries but do not own the companies. A bit like concessions in large stores in the UK.

Im impressed at the number of car GMC churns out, i have driven a few and i can say for an american car, they make one of the good if not best vehicles around.

They come well equipped with plenty of toys but i think handling (the one i drove anyway) was the let down.
Can anyone calculate in % how much car the produce in the world? **heads back to their website**

and, iirc, have a large controlling share in Mazda (Hence the Focus RS and Maxda 3 MPS sharing the same platform, the Mazda 1 and previous Fiesta being about ideticle etc).

GM have sold or are in *** process of selling their stake in Isuzu. And recently sold their stake in whoever owns Subaru. Wish they'd sell Saab to someone who knows how to make cars. Even Ford have done wonders with Volvo!

I guess that goes to show that its not quantity that counts, its quality. I wouldnt own any of those cars listed (the ones that I know).

A lot of the problems GM and Ford are experiencing are down to things like not being able to afford their pension committments.

They owned 20% of Subaru but not any more

General Motors is letting its 20 percent stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, which makes the popular Subaru sport wagons and sedans, slip through its fingers, selling its stake to Toyota for for about $315 million.

GM and Fuji Heavy are not dissolving their relationship completely. They say they will continue to jointly produce the Saab 9-2 sport wagon

Instead of taking on new projects with GM, Fuji President Kyoji Takenaka said the company would meet with Toyota to map out future deals.

Daewoo used to rehash very old GM designs too and sell them as 'new' cars
