On the road....
General Motors (GM) is to wind down operations of its Hummer vehicles - after failing to complete a planned takeover by a Chinese firm.

What will all of those Limo companies use as a replacement I wonder? :D

Can't say I'm sad to see them go, just wondered what you guys thought of the demise of this brand?

they were never popular over here, think i've only seen three, one in manchester city centre complete with spinners at the height of the 'boom' and a couple of limos.

Having driven a H3 over in the states for a couple of weeks I'm not sad to see them go.

Even for a GM SUV they suck but to be honest its not a class of car i like at all. Trailblazers, Yukons, Suburbans you can keep them all as far as im concerned feels like your driving a boat the way they handle.
Only thing is in Texas everyone else is in one so if your in a "normal" car you feel somewhat small on the interstate.

No great loss as far as I'm concerned as they don't appear to do anything particularly well, unless you want to make a statement about your conspicuous consumption, if that's the aim then I'm sure it's a small tragedy.

Having seen one or two H3's on UK roads, although they are total excess, they have real 'presence', and actually I can see how they would appeal to some people..

But they are just 'total excess' at the end of the day, and there isn't too much room in the current economic and other climates for this type of thing..

Our local village drug dealer has 2 of these. Both hideous.

^ Who else would live in a 150 year old terraced house, yet drive 2 of these with private plates on each? :p

Good riddance. Stupid pointless vehicles for people with tiny ****'s.
Complete status symbol, if I want a big engined car i'll spend my money on something quick with a nice interior and a proper gearbox.

Not an ugly ass slow piece of crap with an interior made from 1980's plastics.

I know someone with one of these H3 I think, they have more money than sense for starters but at the same time Arnie likes them and he is a ledgend. :D

I won't be sad to see them go and I know they are replacing the military Humvee for something else soon anyway, but I assume they will still be making the military ones for now?

I like them, if only because they are a rolling two-fingered salute to the tree-hugging Climate Change brigade ;)
