Looking for a free alternative to gmail as it's looking very likely that they will be working even closer with governments not to mention the browser tracking that throws up adverts every other page you go to.

Nothing fancy needed like anti print tech etc, I'm just getting peeved off at the way things are going about privacy these days.

I'm stuck with gmail for my phone but looking for a secure alternative.

Any e-mail providers that won't give out details at the drop of a hat?

As above.

There really isn't anything better than gmail especially if you have an android mobile and you would only be downgrading really if you were to move to the likes of hotmail etc.

ad block and no script in Firefox and no problems using Gmail. But that said I very rarely use the web interface for Gmail as I pop3 all my mail to a client on my Pc.

Why not instead take control of your privacy. Google already provides a lot of control, you just have to utilise those options.

More paranoia and media spin than anything else in the minds of most people these days.
