Gmail and filters

Is there any way to make emails filter directly to a label and ignore the main page of the inbox altogether? Or can i set up a mail client to do that? I've created filters to labels, but they obviously still show the second you goto gmail.com, i want to filter them out to a seperate email folder altogether, if you catch my drift?

I've been playing around for a bit but cant seem to do it, perhaps its impossible with Gmail?

Ah good point, didnt realise it would send them to All Mail but still pick up the filter. Smart.
