gmail and outlook

im using gmail through outlook and cant connect i didnt change the settings at all now it wont work, anyone else having this problem?

The connection to the server has failed. Account: '[email protected]', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10065, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

this is the message i get, any ideas? Is there any alternatives to outlook?

using gmail with outlook here no problems. could be a problem with your isp or your gmail account.

ISP problem I think.
The default port for all SMTP is 25, and a lot of ISP's block that.
You'll have to check and see what port Gmail uses and manually set Outlook to use that one. It's just in the same place where you enter the POP and SMTP info for Gmail.

EDIT: having looked at the error again I think it looks like you've set POP to run on port 995, in the same place as that set SMTP to port 465.

i have already changed the smtp to 465 and the incoming to 995 i cant work it out.

tried it with 2 different address' and even used thunderbird but still cant get in. must be an isp problem surley?

have you checked your firewall to see if its blocking either the outgoing or incomming requests ?
