Gmail app on IPad won't push.

Hi guys had my iPad 2 a couple of month now. I have a a gmail account as my main email. However I've tried the iPads mail and that won't allow me to set up my gmail account it keeps telling me the exchange password is wrong.

So I've been using the official gmail app. The only problem is, it won't push emails. So I have to go into it for it to search for new mail.

I now have a gmail work email that I'd like to run on my iPad too but it's pretty pointless if I can't have it to push emails through when I get them.

Anybody else had this problem?

You don't have two step verification or anything set up have you?

I'd persevere and try and get the default mail app working as the gmail is pointless imo.
