Gmail [finally] officially supported in iOS

Can't download it from your devices, only from a PC or Mac.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, I searched and couldn't find.

I hav to say, first impressions are that it's pretty bad.

The push is just pathetic as the iPhone mail client gets all my emails first! :mad:

Even though this is non related. Can anyone actually get Hotmail to work with iPhone yet? Im sure it is to do with my credentials as I have a long password for hotmail. I read into that being an issue. Surely not?

Set it up as a MS exchange account in the native mail app

The option in iOS 5 for Windows Live Mail sets it up the same way.

Seems like a bit of a silly app to me, wish they'd concentrate on bringing a decent implementation of GTalk/GMail chat to iOS instead.

Now notification centre is about, I would hope they'd do this sooner rather than later.

my others half's mail works find one her iphone 3gs (using apples mail client that is ) it worked out of the box, on ios4 an on ios5

Yep and no banner notifications so you don't know what the email is.

The only good thing about it is easier label / spam management but you could do that via Safari anyway.

No banner notifications?! What on earth are Google thinking? This app doesn't seem much better than a bookmark to mail.google.com to me...
