Gmail Hacked

Had an message this morning from Gmail saying my account had been accessed yesterday from an IP address in spain!!

Obviously changed password straight away!

Anyone else had this with their Gmail?

Yes I had this a couple of days ago. Scratching my head to work out where my password/account got compromised. Haven't yet found any site that claims to have been hacked so I have no idea.

Nope i use 2SV. As much as it can be a pain to log in. It should be near impossible to hack.

I had this with my Gmail account too, not quite sure how it happened, the password was long / complex and I didn't use it on any other sites.

I turned on two step authentication after that.

You password got compromised when you clicked a link in an email and put your password in.

How do you know? You said yourself you're not quite sure how it happened.

Malware is another possibility.

...because I know I would never type my email password in to any websites other than the official gmail site. I doubt it was malware either.

I suspect it was when I had my gmail account set-up on my iPhone, jailbroke it and tried out some cydia apps, one of those probably stole it.

Good lad! 2-step verification is amazing! Remember to print off the backup codes put them in your wallet or sow them into your coats.

What backup codes? Dont they issue you a new one if you need to log on after some length of time?
