Hey,

Quick question/problem..

Got sent a spreadsheet today - .xls - downloaded it from my gmail page opened it up in excel... just the gmail login page showed. So I clicked 'view as HTML' - same thing. Hitting 'Open as a Google spreadsheet' just gets me a 'We're sorry, a server error occurred. Please wait a bit and try again.'

Any ideas? server problem or is it corrupted? Kinda urgent!

Thanks :)

If you like, send it to me and I'll PDF if for you. The address is "iporkyamada" of the yahoo variety.

Oh erm thanks but I tried forwarding it to my old hotmail address and I got the same problem..

Here's a screen of what I get in Excel:

Sounds something like the spreadsheet needs to be setup as a public file or something along those lines. I haven't really used google's spreadsheet app so not certain. Just seems like that as soon as you try to open it it's asking for the appropriate username/password.

EDIT: Just had a quick go. The sender of the document to you will have to do something like this:
Open the spread sheet in google as normal and then goto the blue "share" option button near the top right. By default it's set to "Always require sign-in". So I think you just need to change this to one of the other two options of either "Let people view" or "Let people edit" the document and then save it again.

Ah thanks for that but I can't open the gmail spreadsheet app - I get a...

"We're sorry, a server error occurred. Please wait a bit and try again."

Had that since I received it 3 hours ago :(
