Gmail via POP3 / Outlook 2007 flakey for anyone else?

Hi

Over the past few days, I've had intermittent problems with Outlook 2007's handling of my gmail account.

I've checked the help files and my pop settings are correct and the same as they always have been.

I've been using the same settings for years without issue.

Everything web-bassed works fine.

I can receive mail fine, but when I try to send it, I get the following error message:

Anyone else been getting this recently? I've changed nothing at all in my Office or OS.

Check your antivirus settings, some (especially Norton) can cause these issues when the take over email access.

Well thanks for the reply Dano, we're getting somewhere...when I disabled Avast's email protection, the emails in my outbox were sent successfully.

Question is, what about Avast's email settings could be causing this, as I've changed nothing in either Outlook or Avast. Does this look ok for example?
