Gmail via Thunderbird pop error?? Help Please

Hi Guys

I setup a gmail account and enabled pop via the settings area, then installed Thunderbird and pop my details in but I keep getting a timeout error?

I have rechecked the settings within account options on Thunderbird but they are correct according to gmail instructions? I can see mails going into the gamil account web side?

What am I missing? Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

if you go to Gmail help while logged in , you can get a program that sets it up auto

Just setup imap and that works first time?
