Been waiting for this for a while. Delay after delay, but it is finally out. Not played Deus Ex since Revision Mod came out in 2015, time to jump in with what seems like the best mod to date.

Link: http://gmdxmod.com/

Dubbed the "Definitive Deus Ex Experience" web-wide, GMDX is a one-of-a-kind all-encompassing modification of the classic video game Deus Ex, currently half a decade into rigorous development. Intended to be the best looking and playing version of Deus Ex available all the while remaining true to the original identity of the game, GMDX is the greatest thinking man's Shooter/Sneaker/RPG hybrid on another level. Prepare to be blown away by Deus Ex once more.

Polished, Tight, Deep Gameplay
{
1: Vastly Overhauled, Formidable Artificial Intelligence;
2: Polished, highly refined weaponry;
3: Deeper, more balanced RPG systems;
4: New player tools and mechanics, such as mantling, zooming in with scopes, and upgraded augmentations;
5: New physics, User Interface upgrades, difficulty and config options and more;
6: Deeper simulation aspects -- attention to detail second to none.
7: Every aspect of Deus Ex's fantastic gameplay refined in ways you'd never have thought possible;
}

Enhanced Artistic Direction (and graphics)
{
1: Faithfully enhanced level design and level detail;
2: New high resolution textures;
3: many new graphical effects and art asset replacements;
}

Extensive Bugfixing
{
1: the most comprehensive bugfixing mod available;
2: there's no erroneous functionality too small for GMDX;
}

Audio Design Updates
{
1: new sounds to replace duplicates, replace low quality audio, or enhance actions that were previously silent (e.g climbing ladders);
2: updated audio experienced in the world, increasing immersion;
}

//This and so much more!

Thanks for the info. :)

I tinkered briefly with the previous version not so long ago and liked it a lot; best Deus Ex experience I've had if I'm honest. I'll have to give this a go soon.

Oh...and btw...this is particularly applicable on an occasion such as this. ;)

No problem.

I did not bother with the last one as it was not long before I played revision, also when I read the list of improvements coming in 9.0 I thought I want to wait and play that.

There really are many improvements. Cannot wait to get started :)

I've just tried starting it and the first thing I noticed was that my Steam version wouldn't load (something about general protection fault), so I downloaded a patch from Kentie.net which seems to have got things working.

The other problem I still have is that NPC's aren't quite speaking all of the words in their lines; it just breaks off into the next sentence/subtitle. :confused:

Works fine for me. Zero hassle install.

Did you do as suggested and run the game first before installing? Delete the game from steam, install, run it once, then install the mod in the correct directory (point it to steam, which it did for me automatically anyway). After that launch the game from the GMDX shortcut, go configure, and pick your resolution etc and off you go :D

Let me know if the above works.

Yup, I tried to but I had the general protection fault message pop up. Once I used a fix from Kentie.net, it loaded okay. The installation process appeared to go fine as well.

I'll uninstall and try again. I remember having these issues when playing Revision, though, by various means and tweaks I eventually sorted it out.

general protection fault
That should not be happening on a fresh install of the game on steam. Go double check in your steam folder that there are no remnant files of the game from before or something maybe. Delete any Deus Ex folder in your steam folder.

By the way, go read what I said in earlier posts again as I edited and changed some of what I said to make it more clear. Does not show edit because it was under 5 minutes.

I read your posts again and yes, I also found that it automatically pointed the installation path to Steam as well.

I just uninstalled and then ran Revo Uninstaller to make sure that remnants of old files were cleaned out, but no joy. Here's what I get:

I should add that I've also tried verifying the game cache in Steam, etc.

This is the site I mentioned earlier that I may well have to rely on again.

Well, all sorted, I think.....but in a roundabout way.

I could not get the game to start without running it in safe mode, so after many attempts, I simply didn't bother and installed the mod straight over the top, which worked.

As for the unfinished spoken sentences by NPC's, I simply lowered my framerate in the GMDX menu to 60 from uncapped. I probably should try 144 next since this is my screen's refresh rate (tested - works fine).

The gunplay is so much better now and it's also great to discover new areas. :)

Btw, if anyone experiences stuttering in-game and are using Nvidia hardware, then check to make sure that you haven't got v-sync set to 'on' in the NCP (I guess it could apply to ATi/AMD users also). I remember this happening when I started playing the Revision mod about eighteen months ago.

Sorry, I was afk so could not be more helpful. Glad you sorted it out :)

I used to use kentie's stuff years ago also, but now it is build into mods so never need to go there.

Started getting crashes on level where you get captured in a cell. Going to wait for the next patch.

Anyone else having problems?

I haven't got that far yet but when I do I'll post back anything relevant (not sure when that will be, though).
