Go for GTX 780Ti's or not ?

I'm considering getting either 2x MSI GTX 780Ti Gaming OC 3GB or 2x Gigabyte GTX 780Ti GHz Edition 3GB cards and I have tried to find benchmarks on how 2x GTX 780Ti's fare against 3x GTX 780 but to no real avail.
Will 2x 780Ti's be able to compete with 3x GTX 780 ?. The increased amount of shader units and the better clock speeds should give a good deal.
I've seen many reviews with single GTX 780Ti's vs GTX 780 and in some games there's between 20-25FPS difference in performance and in my book that's pretty massive.

If any have some comparable results (stock performance perferred) I'd be happy to see, or if you have first hand experience I'd love to hear more. And if you in general just know the answer to my question do please let me know

Update !
There's an Asus GTX 780Ti 3GB reference demo model on sale at a store for £529 (cheap when it's in Denmark)...
And if I can sell my 2x HD7970 in my fiancees PC system I could use the GTX 780Ti in that PC untill, I get enough cash for a 2nd one later next year and I could then put the two 780Ti's in my own PC and my fiancee would get one of my GTX 780's, and then I could sell two of my own GTX 780's and get a third GTX 780Ti !? - could be an idea.

I am offered 2600DKK aka ~ £293 for my 2x Asus HD 7970 3GB cards. The Asus GTX 780Ti demo card is £529, so basically I'd hand out £236 for a GTX 780Ti over the 2x HD7970's ! ooooh the dilemma what to choose

I would guess that your 780's are around 10% slower (2 Vs 2), so I wouldn't make the switch but I know where you are coming from

I wouldn't bother. You have 3x780's already. Unless you have an upgrade itch that needs scratching...

3 780Ti superclocks here. Awesome cards

. Logically though, you don't need to upgrade. Three 780GTXs in SLi is more than enough to tackle anything.

If you overclock it isn't worth it at all, 780s tend to clock really well and in our leaderboards you will regulalry see them beating 780Tis

The difference between 780Ti and 780 seems bigger than the difference between 780 Ti SLI and 780 SLI.

Yea it's that itch ! it's soooo annoying

... and I'm still getting the pieces to put my fiancee's gaming rig together during the Xmas holidays.

Yea they do their job as they should without breaking a sweat... it's just that nagging fact ! - there's something faster

Well I'm not much of an OC'er anymore... I prefer plug and play right out of the box. Tweaking with OC settings isn't something I have the time for or prioritize that much

Well that's the thing... if I could get the same performance I would be tempted with 2 GTX 780Ti's.... since then a third could be a possibility some time in 2014.

Exactly ! I have noticed the same when reading through all those GTX 780Ti reviews. On single card basis the GTX 780 looks "slow" compared to GTX 780Ti, but then in SLI comparison between the two the differences are a lot smaller !?!.... I don't know if that's something to do with drivers not fully optimized for 780Ti's or it's actually just how it it ?.

Often run into other bottlenecks when you have 2 or more in SLI which will reduce the performance delta at the upper end compared to single card v single card.

The 780ti dont overclock then, even at stock a 780ti will match a 780 oc, i know cause i have had both sli.

Yeah I had borrowed a 780ti (stock) before I put the Gigabyte 780 WF3 GHZ I have in now and the framerate was almost identical (only ~1% lower tops on the 780) - the 780 GHZ is boosting pretty high out the box.

That said overclocked I'm not that far behind a decent clocking 780ti with this 780 GHZ - 66fps v ~72fps in heaven benchmark.

No its quite a difference i had 780 sli Inno (very long name ) ultra's and at lower core clock speed 780ti sli raped them.

4th and 18th positions

In game they were about 20fps ahead. Lets not forget mine are reference lets see what like for like will do when non reference are out. Plus i dont think many have voltage modded the 780ti yet to score against the 780 that will be interesting.

Need to look at the percentage though not the the fps - 20 fps against a score of 200 fps is a lot different to 20 fps againt a score of 50 fps

When I look at the GTX 780Ti SLi results and the few reviews that are available I see that they aren't pulling that much ahead og 780 SLi - but single vs single they do better. I look at 780Ti SLi results and compare then to my own 780 SLi results (when I only had 2x 780's).

OC results is not of much use to me since I don't OC so I can't really compare to my own "findings".

Reference vs non-reference doesn't do much either since it's a matter of clockspeeds per standard and not overclockability for me

i find my 780 ti sli to be a smoother better round experience

Ti SLI might be worth it next year when the games get more demanding, but there is nothing that pushes 780 SLI at the moment. Even BF4 with all its bells and whistles don't push 780's anywhere near their max.

I think you will hit the VRAM wall on the 780 Ti before you hit the performance wall, so the extra performance will go to waste.
