Go karting near London?

Hoddesdon is good, went there years ago. It's a little north of london, not far north of the 12 o'clock position of the M25.

Heres a directory of lots of tracks, with lengths and links. You need to be a bit more specific than "around London" really, but around the Essex side, I would recomend Lakeside and as already mentioned, Hoddeston. Both big fast outdoor tracks.

All the tracks mentioned so far are decent.

Rye House (in Hoddesdon) has recently got an updated fleet of outdoor prokarts which aren't too bad. Not sure what pricing is like though. If you're just going for fun yourself, you can hire a Rotax kart (125cc watercooled, 0-60 in ~4 sec), although I think it's quite pricy. If you haven't driven a 2-stroke kart before, it'll blow your mind, especially into turn 1 (Stadium). (http://www.rye-house.co.uk)

Streatham is an indoor track, and relatively cheap - £30 buys you an hour. The karts are generally ok (but can vary in standard by up to a second), and they've recently changed to dry clutches, so they have a bit more acceleration than your standard indoor kart. Although I haven't been for a while (I karted there when I was a cadet), I think they do some kind of Ironman/Enduro event for groups, which is quite cheap. (http://www.playscape.co.uk)

All depends what you want to do really. If you want a cheap, indoor event, with fantastic karts (very fair, and quick for indoor machines) and grippy circuit, and willing to travel then there's a circuit in Aylesbury(http://www.klubkartracing.com/)

edit - websites added - Also forgot to mention, Rye and Streatham are very close to train stations.

Hi mate,

Thanks for the info. Well basically am after something fun and fast for myself as I always wanted to try it. I'll be driving there so that wont be a problem.

If you've never been karting before - go to Streatham - you'll want to call them to check availablility now that (I think) school holidays have started.

And remember that corporate karts have ridiculously hard tyres, so they take quite a few laps to have any kind of real grip.

One up the A2 called Buckmore Park, been there twice now and its great! both times were GPs arranged though work. 2nd time it absolutly peed down and I didn't have waterproofs on :S wasnt fun hairing towards a corner and breaking/tuning and finding one major problem, slicks dont like to grip in the wet meaning brakes and turning was...interesting, spent the whole of the round goin sideways on purpous was the best fun i've ever had on four wheels!
