Hi im looking for a waterproof camera / camcorder for my holiday. Il be using it for around the pool, possibly some snorkeling etc I was thinking about getting a GoPro but im put off by the price, mainly because I wouldn't get that much use out of it.

I've read a little about the SJCAM 4000 & SJCAM 5000 but ive been warned there are a lot of fakes about. I like the idea of the wifi function and would want to be able to delete files on the go. What do you use?

Maybe around £70-90. I have a friend in America who has the SJ4000 and said its good, but said I should get the SJ5000. I've seen side by side videos of both & the 4000 looks clearer. I think il go with that. Let's just hope it comes in time if I order from the SJCAM site. Don't wanna risk it on that well known bidding site :-/

Any updates to this?
This new maybe law thing - drivers being prosecuted for dickish passes etc... I feel like I should invest in a couple of cameras. I have no interest in being a militant *******, but having had a Defender pass me with about 2" to spare on a blind bend / double white line bit of road a couple of weeks ago... I could've been taken out and had no evidence.

Also I may start commuting to work by bike about 20 miles each way on mostly country roads, so cameras might be useful.

Anything that can do cyclical recording or whatever it's called, might be good?

Picked up a legit SJCAM 4000 on the bay the other month but have only used it once to test so far and was impressed. Primary purpose is to film some climbs/scenery in Majorca next month.

Wi-fi app etc is good too.

Plenty of the guys I ride with use either SJCAM or Xiaomi Yi and they think they're great, quality is always decent as well when they put their vids up, plus they work with all the go pro designed mounts.

Thinking too, about filming those motorists (whilst they film me) albeit if you do come off would the camera survive ?

A couple of questions -
Do you need a waterproof case to go with camera, or do you just take it off in drizzle/rain
Can you get a quick'ish release mount from a bicycle helmet (and is it going to fit an arbitrary helmet eg Giro brand, without impacting safety ... thinking about Mr Schumacher here), or else something that has a very low profile you could leave on permanently when you might not attach the camera.

Jono, two cameras will be bulky .. or are they on the bike ?

True - Good thinking

... maybe an 'SD card on board' or 'smile you are on candid camera' sticker too, for extra protection
