So it's been released and the selling points are

4k at only 30fps. (I thought we were going to get 60fps)

Voice control that no one will use.

Cloud upload for $5 a month that no one will use.

Inbuilt imagine stabilisation that won't be as good as post editing stabilisation.

And no mention of the battery at all. Which most likely means it's junk. I mean, if it were good they would have mentioned it no?

Dunno about you but I'm disappointed. Seems loaded with gimmicks. I wanted 4k at 60fps and generally better optics and acoustics.

4k 60fps is hard to do and causes a crazy amount of heat... it would be hard to do with a box as small as a Gopro without either a crazy efficient processor or some crazy thermal management. Very few portable devices can do 60fps.

As for the battery, it won't be much different unless they have increased the body size and put in a bigger battery... consumer battery tech hasn't dramatically changed in the last year or so.

Well, you can always donate the money you were going to spend on it on others less fortunate... First world problems and all that jazz.

Trollolol.

I know it's hard to do but they have had ages. Been forever since they released a hero and everyone assumed for certain this would be 40k @ 60fps. (as last one was 30fps). There are dozens of competitors on the market now that already match these new specs (without the cloud gimmicks)

Everyone was saying gopro have waited so long that the specs of this had to bat it out of the park. And they haven't. It's just iPhone all over again. No actual tangible upgrades, just shiny marketing and features you don't actually want.

I can understand the frustration if a new release doesn't have a killer feature you've been waiting for.

However, if you have the Hero 4 and it's not enough of an upgrade, then just stick with your 4 and save the cash or buy some new accessories or a different toy.

The iPhone is a great example; I don't think there's enough of a difference between the 7 and my 6s, so I'm going to pocket the ~£700 and be very happy about that.

I'm not saying you can't be disappointed, but you don't *have* to buy the 5.

Which action cam does 4K at 60fps apart from a Chinese box of lies that probably just repeats the same frame twice?

GoPro optics are usually good, inbuilt stabilisation is better than no stabilisation and good for people that don't have the software for it. There's mention of stereo sound so it sounds like they've upgraded that too.

Seems like a decent enough upgrade with GPS, having a screen built in this time and voice commands that some people will use - even if you won't..

Does it come with waterproof housing like other GoPros? I scuba dive and 10m unfortunately won't cut it.

Plus, talking to the camera underwater could be a challenge. Might stick to my Hero4...
