Hi guys,

wondering if an of you have an insight on the best mounting method/place for my Go Pro. What I'm wishing to do really is record my learning experience as I go, and also once I'm out riding by myself, record as I go to save any great experiences I have too.

So my question is, where should I mount it? I have a Shark s700s, I have read a lot of conflicting information about mounting it on the left or right, on the top etc...

How I see it, is that it would be better on the left, as we drive on the left, or should it be on the opposite side? Any advice would be grand, as I have no idea what to do! :o

Chin mount gives the best view imo, lets you record straight on and left and right, though it comes down to what space you have available on your helmet. :)

just had a look at the 700s, to do a chin mount you'll need to mount on the side of the chin bar then use a couple of arms to get it in the right place.

Like so:

No flat on the front of the chin bar. Chin mount is best IMO.

Well now I feel stupid.

I got the Go Pro side mount, but opened in in a way that it cannot be return... doh! Anyway, have any of you had experience with the side mount, is it any good? I assume the sticky pad can be removed, and then a new one put on without issue?

What exactly do you mean?

If using the sticky pads, the idea is that once they're on, they're on! I would assume that yes you can remove them but with some difficulty and I don't want ot know the mess it'd leave behind on the helmet. Probably like one of those really annoying sticky barcodes or price takes you can never peel off of someones x-mas pressie.

I have mine side mounted on my helmet (right side) purely for ease of installation and I had all the parts. chin mount was my first option but it became a real faff on my GT-Air

I gave up on a chin mount for my GT-Air. My S1000XR screen already blocks half the airflow to that vent and I didn't want to lose any more ventilation. Besides, I like the mount on the side of the helmet and being able to see a little of the helmet in the video.

OP - if you want to remove a GoPro mount you're going to need a hairdryer and a good deal of patience...

I don't know how so many of you are struggling with GT-Air helmets.

Even I managed to chin mount it without issue on mine :p

It's also easy to remove the pads, I just pull them off and then clean the area with some isopropyl alcohol afterwards.
