Thinking of getting a Go Pro to add some variety into the shots I do for video. Are they worth the 250 some quid?

There's the earlier HD Hero, which is very similar to the Hero 2. Missing an external microphone socket and slightly different optics being the two that come to mind. The Hero 2 can also use the optional wireless controller and streamer.

The Hero HD is £150 from a popular online etailer, and looking at comparison videos and the feature differences, couldn't justify the price difference.

I'd also say it depends how you use it.

I just got a back from a week snowboarding and if you get creative with it and use lots of angles you can put together something really good with it.

However so many people tend to just have the camera strapped to their head or chest the whole time and you can end up with videos that are quite boring to watch.

I'll post an example when I've got something together.

Absolutely how you use it.

This is a film I took when getting on my new Aprilia last year. As you can quickly work out, a film of someone riding a motorbike normally is incredibly dull.

Later that summer I got some great fun films going down the rapids at Centerparcs. I don't have those to share but even a short film of a rabbit from the same trip is more interesting than onboard a motorbike.

I have a GoPro and love it! use it all the time and love how versatile and durable it is. Really got into Video Editing because of it.
Unless you use the stills a lot the HD is almost the same as the HD2, 720p, 30/60p is plenty enough quality for anything.
