GO Q6600 - Seems to easy?

Just out of interest, where should I put the fan on the thermalright ultra extreme?
I have it facing the ram, does this mean it is pulling hot air away and over the ram? There is a case fan the other end that's supposed to be pulling hot air out also. Should I swap the fan to the other side?
This is on a neo2-FR btw

So basically, the fan on the thermalright is on the right side (next to the ram, almost touching it in fact) and not on the left nearer to the i/o side. Should I stick it to the right so it's sucking hot air away to the case fan which follows suit by sucking it out of the case? Is this really likely to affect temps much?

Idle temps without Speed Stepping enabled at 3ghz are around the low 30s, late 20s. The core voltage in CPU-Z is around 1.288-1.298 (keeps changing), is this good?

How do I find out which processor batch it is? (the long LGA7xxxxx type number which I can't remember the proper name of)

I had my 120 ultra hsf with the fan on the RAM side with it blowing towards back of case, so sucking air from ram through heatsink and out the back of case. I now have water cooling

yeah, it really is that simple, but trust me, as soon as you start testing for stability and decent temperatures, it becomes a nightmare! it absorbs about a week at least of constant testing and restarts, making notes of configurations that work blah blah...

I think a week might be a bit excessive, if your working with a tried and tested system. Friday just gone i recieved my Abit Ip35 mobo, Q6600 and Geil ram, as was recommended. Was recommeded to OC the cpu to 3.2 and set Vcore to 1.45, ran stability tests for 8 hours over night, all ok. Next day increased to 3.4GHz at same volts, ran stability, ok again, its taken 4 days for me to find out that 1.4150 is the lowest i can go at 3.4. So if you pick a system thats been tried and tested then it should make it a lot easier and shouldnt take too long

You will need to disable speed step in your Bios;)

I have the same problem, cant see that option anywhere
