Going to watch ST this morning and wondered which is best to see. Keep in mind im not 100% sure of 3d because of a bad watching experience of jack the giant killer in 3d which during fast scenes made me lose focus quite often and was hard to watch the film. Baring in mind i went to opticians not long after and found i needed a new prescription and found i had slight stigmatism in one eye, so i have no idea if the new glasses would help in a 3d film or if its just i got unlucky with 3d and no amount of new glasses or pescriptions would help me enjoy 3d?

Advice?

I haven't seen it yet but my brother saw it on Saturday in 3D (standard 3D not iMax) and he said it was the best 3D he had ever seen in a film. He was actually saying that he doesn't know what they have done but the 3D was so impressive and different to other films he has seen in 3D.

As a result, I would say 3D. I will definitely be seeing it in 3D after what he told me.

2D, I have never found 3D to be much good, maybe it's my astigmatism (both eyes).

Was it just poor 3d or was it because of the astigmatism also did your pescription not fix the astigmatism as i was led to believe new pair of glasses would correct for mine in my right eye i think its for.

Saw it in 3d last night. Looked good to me, added some real depth without ever making it difficult to watch unlike Transformers 3 (regret watching that in the Cinema at all mind...)

Well i ended up watching Star Trek in normal Real 3D after watching the last few films (The Hobbit, Iron man 3) in IMAX HFR 3D and i was interested to see if it made much difference

A lot of people have cited the IMAX HFR 3D as been the cure to loss of focus and been generally easier to watch for people with sensitive eyes or people who struggle with standard 3D but to be honest i couldn't tell the difference.

I HATE 3D , but I had no choice but to see it in 3D .....

And it was EPIC (apart from JJ's massive hard on for Lens flare)

Best Movie I have seen in 3D yet

I try and see everything in 2D where possible so would say that. Save the extra money you'd pay for seeing it in 3D to get VIP seats in the cinema.

Same here, didn't really notice the 3D other than the Planet/Place Names floating about.

When they jump to warp it was very obvious.
The start when the spears gets thrown.
The debris field when space flying between ships.

Though I can't think of many stand out parts, iron man 3 had more 3D effects.

I didn't notice those bits were 3D TBH, I usually get a kind of "blurred" effect from stuff that comes out of the screen (or moves quickly) so I'm guessing most of the bit above were Depth perception shots (except no2)?

Interested in this too.

Only really interested in people who don't hate 3d as they will always say 2d

If you like 3d in general is it good in 3d?
Prometheus was good in 3d for example
